Colts' Hunter Smith speaks at Ag Day Breakfast
Feb. 27—GREENSBURG — Indianapolis Colts Super Bowl XLI champion punter Hunter Smith was the keynote speaker at Saturday morning's Annual Ag Day Breakfast in Greensburg.
"The best thing to ever happen to me was to be born on a farm," he said.
Smith played 10 seasons with the Colts after two years at Washington before retiring from pro football in 2010.
Smith and his wife Jennifer returned to Indiana to raise their four children and run the 500+ acre Wondertree Farms in Boone County.
Smith talked about his upbringing on a Texas cattle ranch as he joked about his life in the NFL, even passing his Super Bowl XLI championship ring around the audience.
In addition, Decatur County Memorial Hospital President and CEO Rex McKinney gave an update on the hospital's growth and attention to community involvement, after which Bread of Life's Merrill Smith talked about Farmers Feeding the Flock and current fundraisers.
DCMH was a title sponsor of the event.
A farmer's breakfast, served by local FFA members, started the two-hour event which included South Decatur's Claire Schoettmer leading the Pledge of Allegiance.
"We had a fantastic gathering of individuals and businesses who support our agricultural community at our 2024 Ag Day Breakfast this morning!" the GDC Chamber shared on their Facebook page. "A big thank you goes to the Xperience Ag Inc. and XAG Supply team for hosting us at their facility!"
