Colts defense headed into a new direction
Over the first two weeks of the season the Indianapolis Colts defense has been dismal at best.
The defense ranks 29th in overall defense, giving up 424 yards per game. That is just part of the story.
With the significant amount of injuries in the secondary, the Colts are 29th in pass defense ( 299 ypc).
There is no other defense that has given up more points over the first two weeks (73) than the Colts.
This is not the start that new defensive coordinator Ted Monachino had envisioned.
After practice today though it seems as though things might be changing.
Not one #Colts defensive starter missed today’s practice due to injury.
Can’t say that has been said in a long, long time.

That means the likes of Vontae Davis, Patrick Robinson, Henry Anderson and Clayton Geathers were all suited up today.
This does not mean that the entire defense will become a top five unit in a week. What it means is that the defense could start to turn things around.

Manachino could now have the secondary unit back that he wanted to start the season. This will allow for more man-to-man coverage on the outside. Which could lead to different blitz packages.
The Colts have just two sacks to start the season. Something has to change there.
Will it start Sunday? With several starters back there is nowhere to trend but up.
