Colts CB JuJu Brents ruled out of Texans game with a hamstring injury

INDIANAPOLIS -- JuJu Brents has been tested early and often by the Texans in coverage, but now he's hoping to heal up again.

The Colts' second-round cornerback left the field early in the third quarter and retreated to the locker room with a hamstring injury. He was soon ruled out for the rest of the game and replaced by Darrell Baker Jr.

The injury appeared to happen on a play in coverage on the Texans' first play of the second half, when C.J. Stroud hit Nico Collins for a 23-yard gain.

Brents had been struggling to handle Collins, who had more than 150 yards at the time of Brents' exit. He hasn't gotten the same safety help with Julian Blackmon out for the remainder of the season with a shoulder injury.

A Kansas State and Warren Central product, Brents has struggled to stay healthy. This is his third hamstring issue, and he's also missed time with wrist surgery and a quad injury, totaling eight missed games.

The Colts are currently trying to win without him, tied 14-14 with the Texans in the third quarter.
