College GameDay makes Iowa-Penn State picks

One of the staples of any college football Saturday is to grab your breakfast and coffee, hunker down and dial into College GameDay.

Even if you don’t stick around for the entirety, it’s always fun to see what the crew thinks is going to happen nationally when they make their weekly college football picks.

Host Rece Davis is joined by analysts Kirk Herbstreit, Lee Corso, Pat McAfee and Desmond Howard. Plus, the College GameDay set always has its Guest Picker.

This week, the Guest Picker was star actor Vince Vaughn as the crew counted down to kickoff between No. 4 Ohio State at No. 9 Notre Dame from the Fighting Irish’s campus in South Bend.

The rest of the Week 4 slate is a really good one, featuring matchups such as Oklahoma-Cincinnati, Florida State-Clemson, Ole Miss-Alabama, ColoradoOregon and UCLA-Utah.

Of course, No. 22 Iowa’s trip to No. 7 Penn State and Happy Valley for the Nittany Lions’ annual White Out is among this week’s best games.

Can the Hawkeyes’ offense with quarterback Cade McNamara answer the call to create enough plays to pull the White Out spoiler like they did in 2009? How does Penn State quarterback Drew Allar handle facing his first big test in Iowa’s defense?

The College GameDay crew shared their picks and their thoughts on the Hawkeyes’ huge matchup at Penn State.

The Picks

Desmond Howard: Penn State

Pat McAfee: Penn State

Vince Vaughn: Penn State

Lee Corso: Penn State

Kirk Herbstreit: Penn State

“Exciting atmosphere. There’s no way that Penn State’s going to lose this game. I think it’s going to be a close, low-scoring ball game. Maybe 21-17, but I’m going Penn State.”

“Yeah, this one might be a snoozer. You know, we get the energy drinks out, because it’s old-school football. I think Penn State gets the win with both those running backs having a big day.”

“Yeah, Iowa’s a tough team, it’s going to be close. Anything can happen, but I’m going to go with Penn State.”

“Iowa beat Penn State in a White Out in 2009. Nope. Not this year. Forget about it. Penn State. Ten points.”

“Penn State. White Out. Night game. Enough said. Penn State.”
