The Collabs: Havaianas Celebrates the 100th Anniversary of New Era, Vans Partners With Japanese Brand WTAPS + More

Aug. 20, 2020: As part of its new Project Earth initiative, Selfridges is hosting a pop-up shop for eco-friendly sneaker brand Cariuma. Following the label’s sustainable ethos, the pop-up is outfitted with tables made from Mycelium, a natural material derived from mushrooms. It’s also home to a miniature tree farm for eight weeks. All shoppers who visit the location will be given a plant of their own in a biodegradable, plantable pot. The pop-up is situated on the second floor of Selfridges’ Oxford Street storefront and features a mix of Cariuma‘s classic styles and new fall launches.

Aug. 20, 2020: Havaianas is helping celebrate the 100th anniversary of hat brand New Era, for a capsule collection of bucket hats, trucker hats, classic caps and flip-flops. All items will feature both brands’ logos, with both the Trucker style and 9Twenty classic hat including New Era’s signature silver stamp, identifying them as a signature New Era style. The limited-edition collection is available beginning today on Havaianas.com and select Havaianas stores. The unisex flip-flops retail for $26, with the hats at $26 to $32.

Aug. 17, 2020: For the 14th year in a row, Vans is partnering with Japanese brand WTAPS for the Vault by Vans x WTPAS release, a two-drop series of styles the combine Vans’ classic styles with WTPAS’ military-inspired looks with an urban vibe. The collection features the WTAPS logo and GPS coordinates printed along the outsole of the OG Old School and OG Slip-on styles. The first release will include versions in white with black outsoles, and black versions with orange outsoles. The first drop will be available on Aug. 22 at select Vault by Vans dealers. A second drop will hit later in the season and include apparel.

Aug. 14, 2020: Keds and lifestyle brand Jungalow are partnering for a capsule collection in support of Women’s Equality Day on Aug. 17. Designed with the idea of sisterhood and togetherness in mind while inspiring women to feel free and express themselves, the collection features bold colors, novelty prints and patterned laces on key Keds silhouettes. Each embodies Jungalow founder Justina Blakeney’s passions for color, plants and prints. “This collection represents the power of coming together, lifting each other up, and expressing our vision for the world,” said Blakeney. “Unity among sisters, people from all walks of life, and between humans and Mother Earth can change the world.” The collection retails from $70-$75 and is available on Keds.com, with 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of the Keds x Jungalow Champion Chorus, the first style dropped in the collection, will be donated to GirlTrek, a public health nonprofit for African American women and girls in the U.S.

Aug. 12, 2020: Bogs is partnering with Roots Studio for spring ’21 for a collection of weatherproof boots, clogs and slip-ons, featuring prints created by indigenous artists globally. Roots Studio preserves these endangered art forms by digitizing them into an online library for licensing. The funds generated from the initiative helps provide a sustainable source of income for these artists and their villages. These one-of-a-kind prints will be featured on the Bogs’ Patch Ankle boot for women. Available in February, the shoes retail for $45-$60 and will be sold on Bogsfootwear.com and select online retailers.

Aug. 10, 2020: Luxury sneaker brand Mercer Amsterdam is heading to the vineyards of Italy for a collection of styles in collaboration with wine producer Vegea. The sustainable sneakers, under the W3RD Wine Pack label, are made predominantly of material from the waste products of wine production, a process developed by Vegea. The collection also features mesh made from recycled PET bottles and an EVA sole made with algae. The unisex styles will come in four colors and will be available in January on MercerAmsterdam.com and at select retailers for about $295.

Aug. 10, 2020: Sperry, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary this year, collaborated with U.K.-based apparel brand Sunspel, for a limited-edition capsule collection that features its Authentic Original boat shoe. Handcrafted in Sperry’s workshop in Maine, the shoe is offered in navy blue and brown suede sourced from British tannery Charles F. Stead & Co. It features Sperry’s beefroll stitching done in Sunspel’s signature neutral color palette, while the leather laces are embossed with Sperry and Sunspel branding. The shoes also feature a Vibram outsole. The collection is available beginning today at Sperry.com, Sperrytopsider.co.uk and Sunspel.com. The shoes retail for $375.

Aug. 6, 2020: Dr. Martens is launching the eighth installment of its 1460 Remastered collaboration with Japanese label Needles for a fresh spin on its heritage boot. Needles founder Keizo Shimizu is known for taking old pieces and reinvigorating them with modernistic styling, balancing the boot’s launch 60 years ago with a current 2020 vibe. The classic style incorporates Needles’ signature purple track-pant stripe and trademark purple butterfly, inspired by the movie “Papillion.” There are even three lacing options that come with each — black, purple and silver, all finished with a black and yellow heel loop. The limited-edition style will land at 8 a.m. PT on Aug. 22 at Drmartens.com and at select retail partners.

Aug. 4, 2020: Timberland has crossed the pond for a women’s collection in collaboration with Liberty of London. The U.K. brand is interpreting three women’s shoe styles — the 6-inch boot, Delphiville sneaker and Bria chukka — with colorful floral and botanical prints from its fabric house. All the looks are mindful of the environment, with the 6-inch boot featuring PrimaLoft insulation made from at least 70% recycled materials, the Delphiville sneaker incorporating ReBOTL fabric linings made of 40% recycled plastic, and the Bria made with leather from a tanner rated silver for best environmental practices. The collection retails from $100-$170 and is available at Timberland.com and in select stores.

July 30, 2020: Casual California-based brand Sanuk, has teamed up with Airstream Supply Company, best known for its silver bullet travel trailers, for a capsule collection of men’s and women’s styles for today’s road trippers. The 4-style series marries Sanuk’s best-selling styles with the Airstream’s adventurous spirit and includes playful details such as embroidered trailer patches and pink lawn flamingo prints. “As summertime comes to its peak, we’re thrilled to partner with Sanuk on this collection of Airstream — themed footwear,” said Bob Wheeler, president and CEO of Airstream. “Airstreamers travel to relax, recharge and have fun, and Sanuk’s comfortable approach to casual footwear will appeal to both Airstream owners and those who dream of one day hitting the road in a silver bullet.” For men, there’s the Furreal Classic flip-flop and Vagabond style, while for women there’s the Yoga Sling 2 and Donna style. The collection is available on Sanuk.com and retails from $35-$55.

July 28, 2020: Teva and fellow outdoor brand Cotopaxi are sharing their commitment to protecting the environment by offering products made of remnant and recycled materials. The Teva x Cotopaxi collection features Teva’s classic sandal, the Original Universal, and Cotopaxi’s signature Teca windbreaker, in playful prints and neon colors. The sandal is designed with a mix of Repreve recycled polyester webbing coupled with colorful straps featuring upcycled Cotopaxi Del Dia ripstop fabrics. The Teca Half Zip windbreaker is constructed from repurposed polyester taffeta. Available in men’s and women’s styles, the sandal retails for $70, with the unisex windbreaker retailing for $90. Both will be sold in select specialty stores and online at Teva.com and Cotopaxi.com.
