Coach Saban likes what he is seeing from two of Alabama’s true freshmen

Coach Saban spoke with the media after Wednesday’s practice about two of Alabama’s true freshmen that have stood out in particular: Kobe Prentice and Emmanuel Henderson. Both are currently working as wide receivers.

According to Charlie Potter of BamaOnline247, here is what Saban had to say about Henderson:

“I think that he can help us that position, and I think he will before the season’s out. … I’m encouraged by his athleticism.”

Saban doesn’t often compliment freshmen openly unless he has a plan for them to contribute early and often. With that being said, Prentice will likely have the opportunity to do that in week one with wide receiver JoJo Earle sidelined with a foot fracture.

Here is what Coach Saban had to say about Prentice according to Potter:

“I think that he’s showing promise with his quickness playing at the slot,” Saban said. “I think his opportunities have increased since JoJo (Earle) got hurt. He’s taken advantage of it, played fairly well. I still think he’s got a ways to go in terms of knowledge of the offense and doing things exactly like we’d like for him to do it. But he’s got great work ethic.

“He works hard every day. He’s got a great attitude. He’s really positive and upbeat about what he’s doing. He doesn’t get frustrated easily. I think all those things are contributing to his development.”

This is a development to keep a close eye on as the regular season opener against Utah State is a little over a week away. There is a strong chance that we could see both Prentice and Henderson on the field a lot this upcoming season for the Crimson Tide.
