CLEVELAND — The Guardians were nearly no-hit in a 2-1 loss to the Baltimore Orioles Saturday night at Progressive Field.

One night after being officially eliminated from postseason contention, the Guardians (74-82) were kept out of the hit column until the seventh inning against Orioles starter John Means, who threw a no-hitter in 2021 against Seattle. The loss also means Cleveland will officially have a below .500 season in 2023.

The no-hit bid was broken up by Andres Gimenez, who hit a solo home run to break up both the no-hitter and the shutout.
