NFL Week 1 picks, predictions:

CBS Sports: Browns 28, Panthers 20

Tyler Sullivan writes: "Even if they are rolling out a backup, the Panthers are not expected to be any better than they were a year ago, so Cleveland should have no problem getting the road win."

Pro Football Network: Browns 24, Panthers 14

Jason Katz writes: "The Browns have a new WR1 in Amari Cooper, while the Panthers still don’t have anyone to help out DJ Moore. They’ll at least presumably have a healthy Christian McCaffrey, but I don’t see the Panthers being able to keep pace with the Browns in this one."

NFL Week 1 odds:

Bookies.com: Take the over in Browns vs. Panthers game

Bill Speros writes: "With Baker Mayfield now in Carolina, it could be Jacoby Brissett suiting up at QB in Week 1 for Cleveland. Speaking of Baker, how about this for an opportunity at immediate revenge? Assuming he beats out rookie third-round draft pick Matt Corral for the starting QB gig, he'll be leading the Panthers against his old team in Week 1. Expect fireworks."

Fansided: Browns 32, Panthers 20

Matt Verderame predicts that Cleveland will beat Carolina in Week 1 of the 2022 NFL season.

It writes: "I'd have heavy interest in the Browns if Jacoby Brissett were named the starter because I'm a fan of betting on good teams using their backup quarterbacks."

WSN: Take the Browns with the points vs. Panthers

Mike Lukas writes: "Expect competent backup Jacoby Brissett to be under center for this one, a roster that seems postseason bound but only if HC Kevin Stefanski can manage all of the drama, though this defense with DE Myles Garrett should be fun to watch. This game went from ‘who cares’ to ‘must watch’ the second the Carolina Panthers traded for QB Baker Mayfield, the disgruntled ex-Brown who would love to use his knowledge of the enemy to help his new team win their opening game and have a healthy RB Christian McCaffrey in the backfield won’t hurt, but DC Phil Snow’s defense most certainly will bring pain. The home team gets a slight advantage, but the Cleveland Browns roster is far too talented to not be able to take down these rebuilding Panthers right out of the gate."

NFL Spin Zone: Browns 24, Panthers 14

Brendan Danaher writes: "Baker Mayfield, once named the “Savior of Cleveland”, will likely be starting against his old team in Week 1. All eyes will be on Baker to see how he performs against his own team but I think it will be too early to expect things are synchronized in Carolina. The Browns’ defense will be too much for Baker (or Sam Darnold) to handle and the Browns begin this new rivalry on top."
