Clemson football score vs FAU in Week 3: Live updates

CLEMSON — No. 22 Clemson football plays its first night game at Memorial Stadium this season Saturday when it hosts FAU in Week 3.

Clemson (1-1) is coming off a 66-17 win against Charleston Southern in Week 2. FAU (1-1) most recently suffered a 17-10 loss to Ohio.

The Owls are in their first season under coach Tom Herman, who is best known for his four seasons coaching Texas and three seasons as offensive coordinator at Ohio State. Clemson is facing Herman for the first time, but it's the second meeting between the Tigers and the Owls. Clemson won the first matchup 54-6 in 2006, when coach Dabo Swinney was the Tigers' wide receivers coach.

12:07 left: FAU got on the board in the fourth quarter thanks to a two-yard touchdown run from third-string quarterback Michael Johnson Jr. Clemson leads 41-7.

Third quarter

Tyler Brown gets his second touchdown of the night

2:56 left: Tyler Brown's second score of the night came on a two-yard pass from Klubnik. He started the possession with a 44-yard punt return, then had a 17-yard catch two plays before the touchdown. Clemson's offense came out of halftime sluggish with back-to-back punts and a turnover on downs, but the Tigers' big lead remains: Clemson is up 41-0.

Cade Klubnik scores Tigers' fourth touchdown

3:25 left: Clemson leads 34-0 after a 1-yard touchdown by Cade Klubnik. The Tigers have now scored on four of their five drives, with the only failure to get points came on a missed field goal by Gunn.

FAU quarterback Casey Thompson leaves game with injury

8:28 left: FAU quarterback Casey Thompson was helped off the field after suffering an apparent leg injury on a hit by defensive end Cade Denhoff. Owls bring in Daniel Richardson, who has attempted two passes this season.

Clemson takes 27-0 lead on Phil Mafah touchdown run

12:19 left: Clemson leads 27-0 after a 17-yard touchdown run by Phil Mafah. A big 28-yard reception on third-and-long by Adam Randall set up the score.

First quarter

Khalil Barnes' interception sets up Clemson touchdown

1:20 left: Freshman nickelback Khalil Barnes, who started in place of the injured Andrew Mukuba, got his first career interception to give Clemson the ball at the FAU 26-yard-line. Klubnik later hit tight end Jake Briningstool for a 7-yard touchdown to make it 20-0.

Cade Klubnik finds Tyler Brown for 30-yard score

7:27 left: Clemson has a 13-0 lead after a 30-yard touchdown pass from Cade Klubnik to freshman receiver Tyler Brown. Klubnik was 5-for-5 for 59 yards through the air on his opening drive. Kicker Robert Gunn III missed the PAT.

Nate Wiggins pick-six gets Clemson on the board

13:35 left: With FAU quarterback Casey Thompson trying to throw the ball away on third-and-long, Clemson cornerback Nate Wiggins swooped in for the interception. He returned it 46 yards to give the Tigers an early 7-0 lead.
