Clemson baseball earns top-16 seed, will host NCAA tournament regional
For the second consecutive season, Clemson baseball will host a regional.
The Tigers (41-14) were named as a top-16 seed on Sunday and will host an NCAA Tournament regional at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. The full bracket, including Clemson's exact seed and its opponents in the regional, will be announced during the selection show Monday (noon, ESPN2).
Regionals will take place from May 31 to June 1. The super regionals will run from June 7-10 and the College World Series at TD Ameritrade Park will kick off June 14 in Omaha, Nebraska.
Clemson finished second in ACC play in the regular season but failed to advance to the ACC Tournament semifinals after splitting the two games between Miami and Louisville in Pool B play.
The last time the Tigers hosted consecutive regionals was 2016-18, when they pulled it off for three seasons in a row.
This will be Clemson's 46th NCAA Tournament appearance, the fifth-most in college baseball. The Tigers are searching for their 13th College World Series appearance.
Last season, the Tigers were named the No. 4 national seed but failed to advance to the super regionals. They lost to Tennessee, 6-5, and fell 3-2 to Charlotte in an elimination game.
