Citrus Coast League selects its top athletes for the 2023 fall season

Nordhoff High running back Sol McGarey, Hueneme High running back Robert Maria and Fillmore quarterback David Jimenez were named the tri-Offensive Players of the Year, linebacker Shane Loes of Nordhoff was named the Defensive Player of the Year, and Daniel Viveros of Fillmore was named the Linemen of the Year for the 2023 Citrus Coast League football season.

Making the first team were Ray Curiel, Joey Ocegueda, Josiah Cruz, Anthony Porter, James Chaveste, Sergio Torres, Joe Perez and Angel Gonzalez of league champion Fillmore; Conner Jones, Hayden Velasquez, Daniel Herrejon, Oney Singh and Uriel Covarrubias of Nordhoff; Allen Macias, Arturo Alcaraz, Alias Rabago, Sebastain Cripe, Elias Garcia, Xavier Garcia, Izayah Mata and Jorge Gonzalez of Santa Paula; Kevin Brannon, David McCormick, Lance Oliveras and Andy Tumamait of Hueneme; and Judah Torres and Sebastian Hernandez of Carpinteria.

Named to the second team were Carlos Cabral, Juan Barraza, Antonio Munoz, Elijah Hodges, Miso Ocegueda, Thomas Alamillo and Marcus Lechuga of Fillmore; Peter Kelley, Chase Sheets, Ethan Quinn, Brian Herrera, Carlos Valadez and Weston Haley of Nordhoff; Joseph Jimenez, Melvin Medina, Abraham Jimenez, Elijah Arriaga and Jonathan Castaneda of Santa Paula; Santos Villasenor, Daniel Cortez, Leonardo Garcia, Alejandro Nava and Ismael Ortiz of Hueneme; and Talon Trumble, Dylan Gonzales, Sawyer Kelly, Isaya Gonzalez and Jayson Dishion of Carpinteria.

Earning honorable-mention honors were Ja' Quam Hargrove, Daniel Moreno, Charles Soong, Justin Vargas and Marc Garza of Hueneme; John Wadkowski, Noe Jimenez, Daniel Medina, Isaac Rabago and Enrique Carbajal of Santa Paula; and Edwin Nova and David Alvarez of Carpinteria.

Dillon Lowen of Nordhoff was named the Coach of the Year.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Summer Frazier of league champion Nordhoff was named the Most Valuable Player.

Named to the first team were Jazmine Kaiwai and Cadence Renshaw of Nordhoff; Bea Cerezo and Yselin Virgen of Channel Islands; Esme Flores and Lissett Magana of Santa Paula; Emma Aaitui and Emily Hernandez of Hueneme; Averi Alexander of Carpinteria; and Kate Mulder of Malibu.

Named to the second team were Jasmine Olguin and Cecilia Vallejo of Channel Islands; Maddie Stonebraker and Aliyah Jackson of Santa Paula; America Martinez of Fillmore; Jenny Valencia of Carpinteria; Daniela Granados and Romy Lescur of Malibu; Corinne Muth of Nordhoff; and Araly Ramirez-Vargas of Hueneme.

JR Lesher of Hueneme was the Most Valuable Runner of the Year.

Asher Smith of league champion Carpinteria was named the Most Valuable Player.

Named to the second team were Cole Prichard and William McNerney of Nordhoff; Jose Lopez of Hueneme; Jonathan Xahuentitla of Channel Islands; and Sky Corling, Jay Ehlears and Sebastian Reed of Carpinteria.

Earning honorable-mention honors were Jesse Kirkland and Collin Dingman of Nordhoff; Kevin Jijada and Jayden Ursua of Channel Islands; Carlos Vega and Erick Medrano of Hueneme; and Jacob Otsuki, Micah Smith and Eli Sheaffer of Carpinteria.

Karl Fredrickson of Carpinteria was named the Coach of the Year.

GIRLS TENNIS

Ana Maria Mitrovic of Malibu was the Singles MVP and Charlotte Cooney and Keyla Manriquez of league champion Carpinteria were the doubles MVPs.

Earning first-team honors were Mady Fitch and Cassidy Gaston of Nordhoff; Jade Antolin and Adriana Padilla of Hueneme; Izzy Scott of Carpinteria; and Sofia Berglund of Malibu.

Sophia Manzano of Santa Paula earned Most Valuable Player honors.

Earning second-team honors were Presley McLain and Amaya Rhodes of Fillmore; Brenda Arias Jacvinde, Xiomara Lopez and Kimberley Montoya of Hueneme; Joann Christensen of Santa Paula; Caidyn Ovsiowitz of Malibu; and Kiana Kiah of Carpinteria.

Earning honorable-mention honors were Jackson Nash, Malina Jansma and Zyra Lupercio of Nordhoff; Maliah Mims of Channel Islands; Delilah Cervantez of Fillmore; and Sophia Garay of Carpinteria.

Doug Crane of Nordhoff was named the Coach of the Year.
