Fairfield 38, Lakota East 35 - FINAL

Fairfield and Lakota East both entered the game looking for win No. 1 on the season and both squads made sure it took a mighty effort to get it.

The squads traded touchdowns in the third quarter to make it 28-14 entering the final quarter. The Thunderhawks scored two quick touchdowns, but a failed two-point try made it 28-27. Lakota West 35, Middletown 0 - FINAL

The downfall of the Lakota West Firebirds has been greatly exaggerated. After an 0-2 start to the season, Lakota West has evened back to .500 while shutting out its last two opponents by a combined 68-0.

The tough Lakota West defense held Middletown to just 78 yards, 77 of which came from quarterback Jerimiah Landers who was 12-25 with a pair of interceptions. Firebird quarterback Sam Wiles, who took over the offense last week, was 10-15 for 115 yards and a pair of touchdowns while also rushing for 83 yards. Freshman Jackson Smith, who was the signal caller in the first two weeks, got back into the lineup and was 3-3 for 34 yards with a 24-yard touchdown to Brennan Remy. Remy caught five passes for 81 yards and two scores.

Defensively, Nathan Huggins and Drew Minich had picks for Lakota West while Grant Beerman and Elijah Davis each had two quarterback sacks and combined for 6 tackles for loss.

Princeton 20, Mason 3 - FINAL

Mason outgained Princeton 222-171 and had nearly 30 minutes of possession time, but a lone field goal in the fourth quarter was all the Comets could muster. The Comets turned the ball over three times, including a pair of interceptions thrown. Princeton scored on a pass from David Hambrick to Jordan Houston, but its big play on the scoreboard was an 81-yard punt return by Antonio Hunter to give Princeton a 14-0 lead.
