Class 5A

Cooper 49, Scott County 21 – FINAL

Scott County entered the second round of the postseason as a favorite in Class 5A, but left as 49-21 losers to the visiting Cooper Jaguars. Cooper jumped to a 21-7 lead at halftime and only added on in the second half behind big passes from Cameron O’Hara and runs from Keagan Maher. The teams were nearly matched on the ground with Cooper out-rushing the Cardinals 166-164, but the Jags exploded with the passing game. O’Hara was 12-17 for 211 passing yards as Scott County only had 108 through the air. O’Hara threw for three touchdowns, all to Austin Alexander who caught five pass total for 148 yards. Maher led the Jags on the ground with 156 yards on 27 rushes for three touchdowns. Isaac Brown and Ryker Campbell each had an interception of Scott County quarterback Andrew Hickey.

Highlands 40, Dixie Heights 7 – FINAL

Dixie Heights had no rematch luck in the cards against Highlands as the Bluebirds won 40-7 to advance in the Class 5A postseason while extending its overall winning streak to 10 games. The Bluebirds led 40-0 at halftime and continued a streak of not allowing more than one score to five-straight games. Quarterback Brody Benke was just 1-2 passing, but completed the pass to Carson Class for a 41-yard touchdown. Benke also added 194 yards and three touchdowns on 12 rushes while Cam Giesler had 19 rushes for 209 yards and two touchdowns. In the first half, Highlands outgained Dixie Heights 426-6 and allowed just a single first down. The Colonels ended the shutout in the third quarter when Armani Gregg connected with Brach Rice for a 23-yard score.
