Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Christian Kirk left the NFL Week 13 Monday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals at EverBank Stadium during the first quarter with a groin injury.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Tuesday that Kirk suffered a core muscle injury that likely will require surgery.

Early in the second half, the Jags declared Kirk out for the rest of the game, and also ruled out cornerback Tre Herndon.

Kirk stayed down after a 26-yard reception from quarterback Trevor Lawrence on the Jaguars' first offensive play from scrimmage. Kirk was assisted off the field.

"Exactly what happens to him, hard to know," ESPN analyst Troy Aikman said of Kirk. "But boy, if he's not able to go, this is a significant injury for this Jaguars' offense. ... That's a big loss."

The Jaguars' Travis Etienne Jr. gave Jacksonville a 7-0 lead with his 4-yard rushing touchdown a short time later.

Kirk entered Monday night's game leading the Jaguars this season with 761 receiving yards through 11 games.

The Enquirer will update this story.
