Chris Hubbard is out for the season with torn knee ligaments
The Cleveland Browns suffered a key loss in the Sunday night win over the New York Giants. Offensive lineman Chris Hubbard went down with a knee injury early in Browns win in New York.
Hubbard tweeted out a hopeful message after the game but it turned out to be the worst-case scenario for the team for the rest of the 2020 season. Further evaluation revealed that Hubbard suffered torn ligaments in the knee and his season is over.
“Hub has given us great reps, not good reps, great reps as a versatile player,” coach Kevin Stefanski said on Monday. “He is an outstanding teammate. We will miss him in the time that he misses but in terms of the whole picture of the injury, I will wait to put out something official.”
Hubbard was starting at right guard for Wyatt Teller, who is dealing with an ankle injury of his own. The veteran has been the team’s top reserve lineman, playing both tackle and guard in relief duties. It was a good role for the former starting right tackle.
He will be replaced by rookie Nick Harris for as long as Teller remains sidelined. The fifth-rounder from Washington played well in his NFL debut on Sunday night in relief of Hubbard. Harris has primarily been the backup center behind veteran JC Tretter.
