Boye-Doe is actually the second K-State defender who participated in the Chiefs’ local pro day to end up with K.C. this year, joining teammate Felix Anudike-Uzomah, the team’s first-round draft pick. He’s also one of the only tryout players from rookie minicamp to make the 90-man offseason roster.

The Chiefs’ cornerback room is absolutely loaded with talent this year, they’ve made a healthy amount of investments via the draft and after it. This year alone they added three players at the position, in addition to Boye-Doe, through undrafted free agency. That’s going to bring up the overall competitiveness of the group, especially at the bottom of the roster.

While ball production wasn’t a strong suit for Boye-Doe over his college career (no interceptions), he didn’t allow a lot of passes completed into his coverage. According to PFF, he allowed completions on fewer than 60% of the career passes thrown in his coverage. Pushing for a roster spot is going to be about more than his ability in coverage, though. Boye-Doe will need to impress upon Dave Toub that he can contribute on special teams if he’s to make it through roster cuts in September.
