Chiefs, Royals, Current speak out after Super Bowl rally shooting

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City sports franchises have put out statements on the Super Bowl parade shooting that happened Wednesday afternoon.

The Kansas City Chiefs, Royals and KC Current put out separate statements on X following a shooting at the Chiefs Union Station Super Bowl rally that left one dead and multiple injured.

Chiefs’ statement:

“We are truly saddened by the senseless act of violence that occurred outside of Union Station at the conclusion of today’s parade and rally. Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and all of Kansas City.”

“We are in close communication with the Mayor’s office as well as the Kansas City Police Department. At this time, we have confirmed that all of our players, coaches, staff and their families are safe and accounted for. We thank the local law enforcement officers and first responders who were on-scene to assist.”

Royals’ statement:

“Our hearts ache from the senseless violence that took place at the parade. We stand with our city and send our full support to victims, their families, and first responders.”

Kansas City Chiefs’ MVS requests contact for parade shooting victims

Current’s statement:

“The Kansas City Current organization is heartbroken by the horrific shooting that took place today at Union Station. Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, friends and loved ones, as well as our entire Kansas City community. We should be able to celebrate these moments in our city without the fear of this senseless violence.”

The NFL and Baltimore Ravens also released statements.
