Chiefs place Hunt, Thomas on IR; sign Spiller, Kemp

The Kansas City Chiefs placed tailback Akeem Hunt and receiver De'Anthony Thomas on injured reserve Tuesday, five days before their AFC playoff game against the Tennessee Titans.

Kansas City re-signed running back C.J. Spiller to his fifth stint with the team this season. The Chiefs also signed receiver Marcus Kemp.

Hunt (ankle) and Thomas (leg) suffered injuries during Sunday's victory over Denver Broncos, the Chiefs' regular-season finale.

Hunt (24.4-yard average) and Thomas (23.5) were Kansas City's main kickoff returners during the regular season.

Spiller was active in just one game for the Chiefs and carried twice for zero yards. The 30-year-old's most-productive season was when he rushed for 1,244 yards for the Buffalo Bills in 2012.

Kemp also was active for one game but didn't record a catch.

Missing practice Tuesday were receiver Albert Wilson (hamstring), cornerback Phillip Gaines (elbow) and defensive tackles Jarvis Jenkins (knee) and Rakeem Nunez-Roches (ankle).
