Chiefs Day 2 draft picks have been assigned jersey numbers

The Kansas City Chiefs’ rookies continue to be assigned jersey numbers as they arrive at team facilities ahead of rookie minicamp.

Both first-round draft picks, Trent McDuffie and George Karlaftis, already have seen their jersey numbers revealed. Now, the second-round and third-round picks also have been assigned jersey numbers.

The first of that group was Skyy Moore, who will wear the same number he wore in college. The player who was taken at pick No. 62 in the second round, Bryan Cook, will also be wearing his college jersey number. He revealed the number on his profile picture on Twitter.

Check it out:

The most notable player to recently wear the No. 6 is former Chiefs kicker Ryan Succop. Beyond that, it’s a pretty weak group of people to have worn the number. Cook is taking advantage of the NFL’s new single-digit jersey number expansion and he’s really one of the first to do so in Kansas City. Defensive backs are now permitted to wear Nos. 1–49 in the NFL.

Chiefs’ third-round pick, Leo Chenal, had his jersey number revealed by his mother on Instagram. He goes from wearing No. 5 and No. 45 at Wisconsin to wearing No. 49 in Kansas City. KSHB-TV producer Nick Jacobs shared the picture on social media:

Since 2014, No. 49 has been worn by much-maligned safety Daniel Sorensen in Kansas City. Some all-time greats in Kansas City have worn No. 49, such as FB Tony Richardson and S Bernard Pollard. Chenal will certainly have a shot at redeeming that jersey number for the team in 2022 and beyond.
