Chiefs’ Andy Reid provides update on Frank Clark, Mecole Hardman. Here’s the latest

Chiefs defensive end Frank Clark didn’t finish Week 18’s win over the Las Vegas Raiders because of a groin injury. But any concerns of potential missed time during the playoffs appear to be alleviated.

“Looks like Frank after his MRI, the groin looks like it’s more a mild one,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Monday. “He should be able to return after a little rest that we have here.”

Clark’s recovery is further boosted from the Chiefs’ first-round bye in the postseason.

The players are off until later in the week. Clark can utilize the time for rehabilitation purposes before the Chiefs return to full practices next week ahead of the AFC Divisional Round on Jan. 21-22.

Clark, who finished the regular season with 39 tackles, five sacks and 13 quarterback hits, isn’t the only player who could use the bye week.

Wide receiver Mecole Hardman, who returned from the reserve/injured list last week, should also benefit from the extra time off.

“I thought he might be able to go this past week,” Reid said. “That’s a hiccup on my end. I mean, he’s trying to get this thing right and it’s just a matter of time.

“So really day to day, although he feels better today than he did on Saturday. We’ll just see how it goes during practice.”

Hardman practiced last week, but the Chiefs held him back in the regular-season finale by designating him as inactive against the Raiders.
