The Chiefs’ AFC West rivals all shared touching tributes to the late Norma Hunt

Starting in September, the Chargers, Broncos and Raiders will be looking to knock the Chiefs from the top of Mount AFC West.

That’s to be expected, as the division rivals all strive to defeat their foes when the games are played. Off the field, however, the teams support one another. For example, the Chiefs’ rivals shared words of encouragement Sunday following the news of Norma Hunt’s death.

Norma Hunt, the wife of Chiefs founder Lamar Hunt and mother of current CEO and chairman Clark Hunt, died at age 85.

There was an outpouring of support from around the NFL, including sweet tributes from the other AFC West teams.

Chargers owner Dean Spanos and his wife, Susie shared this message:

“Throughout her life, Norma was always setting an example — be it as a wife, mother, grandmother, friend, community advocate or NFL owner. She was remarkably gracious, incredibly considerate of others, smart, always positive and most certainly always caring. That was the Norma our family knew and loved for nearly 40 years. Our deepest condolences go out to Clark and the entire Hunt family, the Kansas City Chiefs organization and everyone who had the privilege to know Norma.”

“Our hearts and deepest sympathies go out to the Hunt family, the entire Chiefs organization and all of Chiefs Kingdom,” the Broncos wrote in a Twitter message.

The Raiders shared this statement:

“The Raiders Family mourns the loss of Norma Hunt, a great woman who will be sorely missed by the entire NFL community. Norma was devoted and passionate about the Chiefs and Lamar Hunt’s vision for the American Football League. The Hunt family’s role in the formation of the AFL was monumental in the history of sports. The heartfelt condolences of the Raider Nation are with Clark and the entire Hunt family at this time.”
