‘Chicago Med’ Season 3 Premiere Off From Series Debut But Improves Slot, ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Eyes Finale Ratings Low
NBC’s Chicago Med kicked off its third season last night with a 1.3 adults 18-49 rating and 6.2 million total viewers (Live+same day), airing behind hit This Is Us (2.5, 9.3 million).
That was well below the Chicago Med’s series preview last fall (2.2, 8.6 million) in the Tuesday 9 PM slot with a similar size lead-in from The Voice (2.6 in 18-49). Still, even if it undergoes a downward adjustment as post-This Is Us dramas sometimes do, Chicago Med will be ahead of the 1.0 L+SD demo rating Law & Order True Crime averaged in the Tuesday 10 PM hour earlier this fall. Chicago Med was on par (or up a notch if numbers hold) with its Season 1 average (1.2, 6.7 million) and finale (1.2, 7 million) in the Thursday 9 PM time slot behind modestly-rated comedies.
At 8 PM, NBC’s The Voice (1.7, 9.3 million) slipped three -0.3 week-to-week.
The Season 25 finale of Dancing With the Stars, won by Jordan Fisher, posted a 1.3 in 18-49 and 9.2 million total viewers at 9 PM, hitting a finale low in 18-49 and drawing the second-smallest finale audience. If the dancing competition undergoes an upward adjustment, it would match the previous demo finale low registered by the Season 24 closer in the spring, 1.4.
Opening the night for ABC, The Middle (1.3, 6 million) and Fresh Off the Boat (1.1, 4.3 million) were steady.
CBS’ NCIS (1.4, 12.5 million) and NCIS: New Orleans (0.9, 7.9 million) were off by -0.1 and -0.2 vs. last week while Bull (1.1, 9 million) was steady.
The CW’s The Flash (0.8, 2.2 million) was down a tenth for The CW, Legends of Tomorrow and Fox’s Lethal Weapon (1.0, 3.9 million), The Mick (0.7, 2.2 million) and Brooklyn Nine-Nine (0.6, 1.7 million) were all steady.
NBC won the night in 18-49, CBS was tops in total viewers.
