Chicago Bulls urged to trade DeMar DeRozan: ‘He’s walking’

The Chicago Bulls need to make some tough choices this summer, and most of them involve the team’s stars. If Chicago wants to remain competitive next year, which could hurt the long-term future of the team, then they need to bring everyone back and add help. If not, they have to trade their stars.

Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports recently reported that Chicago has sent out feelers in regard to potential Zach LaVine trades. However, during an appearance on Stacey King’s podcast, “Gimme the Hot Sauce,” David Kaplan of ESPN 1000 stated that he believes DeMar DeRozan is more likely to be moved.

Kaplan noted DeRozan’s need for an extension at the end of next year as a primary reason he believes the veteran will be moved.

“I do think they’re going to move somebody because you have to sign DeMar to an extension this summer,” Kaplan said. “He’s walking at the end of the season. So, if he goes out and plays like DeMar, and he’s a 23-point-a-game scorer, and he hits some clutch shots, and he looks like he’s still healthy because he takes amazing care of himself, he’s walking. He’s not going to be back here. So, I don’t think they’re extending him for big money. I don’t. So, I think he’s more likely to get moved.”

DeRozan will be 34 years old by the time next season begins, and while he’s been great for the Bulls, they clearly aren’t a title contender. Rather than risk losing him for nothing, Chicago should look into trading the veteran star.
