Cherry Starr wishes Packers quarterback Jordan Love luck and tells him he deserves 'all the success'

Jordan Love likely received many well-wishes prior to the Green Bay Packers' season opener against the Chicago Bears.

But none might have meant more than the one he received last week from Cherry Starr.

Starr, the wife of the late Bart Starr, sent him a video as part of the Helmets to Heroes auction, a branch of the Starr Children's Fund, that the two created in 2017.

When Bart Starr retired from the NFL he wrote annual notes to every starting quarterback at the start of every season. Cherry has continued the tradition after Bart died in 2019 and is having the 32 quarterbacks sign a helmet for the Helmets to Heroes auction, which raises money for pediatric cancer treatments and research.

With Love taking over as starting quarterback of the Packers this was his first time participating in the tradition.

"I just wanted to let you know how many lives you’re impacting and wish you the best of luck in your first season as a Green Bay Packers starting quarterback," Cherry told him. "You deserve all the success that comes your way."

Love felt honored to do his part.

"It’s definitely something that hits home a little bit more hearing that," Love said in the video. "It just shows how far back that legacy goes."

Love, who sat behind Aaron Rodgers the last three seasons after being the team's first-round draft pick in 2020, doesn't take his role as the new face of the franchise lightly.

"It’s one of those things you got to understand the role you’re in and how much impact you can have on people," Love said. "I always want to be positive and have a good impact on people and this is a small part of it."
