Chelsea injury update: Cole Palmer, Levi Colwill, Ben Chilwell latest news and return dates

Chelsea are hoping for a spate of positive news relating to their lengthy injury list ahead of Everton’s trip to the capital.

Cole Palmer was taken off during the draw at Sheffield United, which both Malo Gusto and Ben Chilwell missed.

However, positive updates have already started arriving while Levi Colwill is also said to be not far off a return from injury.

The likes of Reece James, Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia will require longer spells in the treatment room, however.

Here is your latest update of Chelsea injury news and return dates...

Cole Palmer

There were injury fears for Palmer when he was taken off with 20 minutes to go in Yorkshire, particularly after a hefty challenge from Jack Robinson which earned the Blades man a booking.

Mauricio Pochettino confirmed post-match that he had picked up a knock in the Manchester United match but his substitution was instead due to being “little bit more tired than normal”.

Potential return date: April 15, vs Everton

Reports suggest Colwill is closing in on a return from his toe injury.

The FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City is said to have been earmarked.

Potential return date: April 20, vs Man City

Ben Chilwell

Chelsea had to contend with a knee injury for left-back Chilwell after the international break, which was followed by him picking up a bout of illness.

He was unable to train before Pochettino’s last update, on Friday, but should be back in action ahead of the Everton game.

Malo Gusto

Gusto dropped out of the team on the weekend having recently suffered from illness.

Chelsea expect to have him back soon after Pochettino confirmed: “Malo has to rest. He was ill before playing two games, so he has to rest.”

Christopher Nkunku

Chelsea are unable to put a timeframe on Nkunku’s return from a hamstring problem, which Pochettino has said will take “longer than expected”.

“At the moment we don’t know when it’s possible to train with the team, at the moment he is not training with us,” he said.
