As the regular season winds down, these student-athletes are ramping up! Check out last week's standout performances in wrestling, indoor track, swimming, boys basketball and more.

Top Performances in Competitive Spirit:

The Lansdale Catholic Crusaders compete in the 2024 PIAA Competitive Spirit State Championships, on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Giant Center in Hershey. Lansdale Catholic placed third in the 2A Small Varsity division.

Dozens of teams across the state converged upon the Giant Center in Hershey to compete in the PIAA Competitive Spirit Championships. In 2A Small Varsity, Lansdale Catholic took third place, while Archbishop Wood placed eighth. Pennsbury was sixth in Coed Varsity. Check out photos from the championships here.

Jagger Verbit, Faith Christian

Verbit continued his blistering freshman campaign, scoring 30 points in a win against Valley Forge Military Academy and 24 points in a double-OT loss to MaST Charter. He finished the week with a 24-point performance in a win over Bristol, while racking up 17 rebounds in his last two games.

Matt Engle, CB West

The senior erupted for 23 points to lead the Bucks to a huge 67-61 win over rival CB East.

Julian Phillips, CB West

Phillips led the way with 23 points in a victory over North Penn.

Rocco Massimino, New Hope-Solebury

With the Lions trailing by three points and time running out, Massimino beat the buzzer with a game-tying 3-pointer to send the game to overtime. He finished with a team-high 16 points as the Lions earned their first win of the season, 53-51, over Springfield.

Liam Ross, New Hope-Solebury

Ross scored the game-winning basket in OT to give the Lions their first win of the season. He finished with 14 points in the 53-51 victory over Springfield.

Bryce Rollerson, Germantown Academy

He scored 13 of his 36 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Patriots to a 69-64 win over Springside-Chestnut Hill.

Tyler Nolan, Germantown Academy

He drilled four 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, for a game-high 25 points, as the Patriots fell just short (69-65) against Malvern Prep. He had another 25-point game against Fels, this time resulting in an 85-70 win for the Patriots.

Jalil Bethea, Archbishop Wood

The Miami commit delivered a pair of 30-point games last week in PCL play, dropping 30 points in a win against St. Joe’s Prep and 31 in a win over Cardinal O’Hara.

Ahmaar Godhania, North Penn

He scored six of his 15 points in the decisive fourth quarter to secure the Knights’ 50-43 win over CR North, and he had 22 points, including five 3-pointers, in a loss to CB West.

Nate Townsend, Neshaminy

Townsend scored 29 points in a 59-40 Senior Night win over Council Rock South after having 17 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists in a 59-49 victory against CB East.

Grady Burt, CR North

Burt scored a game-high 21 points, with 12 coming in the second half, though CR North fell short against North Penn. He had 18 points in a win over Truman, and another 18 in a 58-51 loss to Bensalem.

Connor Taddei, Pennsbury

Taddei connected on three free throws in the final eight seconds of OT to secure a 53-51 win over Neshaminy. He finished with 9 points.

Alex Brown, Morrisville

Brown posted a game-high 20 points in a loss to Springfield.

Colson Campbell, Upper Moreland

Campbell had a game-high 22 points in a 79-66 win over neighboring rival Lower Moreland.

Kirby Mooney, William Tennent

Mooney erupted for 35 points in a 78-48 win over Springfield, and in the following game, scored nine points in the fourth quarter as the Panthers outscored PW 21-8 in the period, finishing with 19 points in the victory.

Imad Abunima, William Tennent

He posted back to back double-doubles with 15 points and 12 rebounds in a win over Plymouth Whitemarsh and 16 points and 12 rebounds in a victory over Springfield.

Ethan Tomlinson, Quakertown

Tomlinson poured in 30 points, including 19 in the fourth quarter, though the Panthers rally fell short against Plymouth Whitemarsh.

Boys Hoops: Top boys basketball teams gearing up for district and league playoffs in Bucks County area

Top Performance in Bowling:

Chase Leckner, North Penn

He rolled a 655 high series, including a 243 high game, to lead the Knights to a sweep of Upper Dublin in an SOL American match. Leckner is averaging 213 per game, which leads the division.

Top Performances in Girls Wrestling:

On Sunday, 28 teams from the area visited Central Bucks West for the Battle of the Bucks girls wrestling tournament. Here are some of the top performances.

Grace Nesbitt, Neshaminy

The freshman won the 100-pound title, winning by technical fall in the title match.

Ashley Stank, Quakertown

The sophomore won the 106-pound title, going 3-0 with two wins by fall. She improved to 15-6 on the season.

Macayla Needham, Central Bucks East

The junior won the 112-pound title and improved to 20-6 this season.

Gisele Ramirez, Souderton

The senior won all three of her matches by fall, pinning her opponent in 39 seconds in the championship match to win the 118-pound title. She improved to 18-1 on the season.

Chase Ryan, Quakertown

The junior won the 155-pound championship, going 3-0 on the day and helping the Panthers finish second in the team standings.

Maya Krieger, Bensalem

The junior went 3-0 to secure the 170-pound title.

Caroline Hattala, Quakertown

The sophomore went 2-0 to win the 190-pound title and improved to 17-0 on the season. Both wins were by pin (0:47, 1:19) from Hattala, who is ranked No. 1 in the district and the state by PA-Wrestling.com.

Top Performances in Indoor Track:

Papakojo Danquah, Holy Ghost Prep

The senior took first place in the boys 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:42.75 at the Peddie School meet.

Jayden Neels, Council Rock North

The sophomore won the boys mile run with a time of 4:41.09 at the Track & Field Coaches Association of Greater Philadelphia meet.

Peter Murray, Abington

Murray took first place in the 800-meter run at the T&FCA meet with a time of 2:04.22.

Marc Cobbs, North Penn

Cobbs won the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.68 at the T&FCA meet.

Jack Jacobson, North Penn

He finished first in the pole vault with a mark of 12-6 at the T&FCA meet.

Jayden Mclaurin, Bensalem

The junior took first place in the T&FCA 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.20.

Fritz Clement, Upper Moreland

The senior set a school record in the 55-meter hurdles with his time of 8.89 at the T&FCA meet.

Top Performances in Boys Wrestling:

Chris Dennis, CB West

The returning PIAA sixth-place medalist had two pins and a technical fall at 133 pounds to help the Bucks finish second at their Battle of the Bucks tournament last weekend.

Collin Gaj, Quakertown

In his return to the mat after missing two weeks due to injury, the junior went 5-0 with four pins at the Quakertown Duals in the 160-pound bracket.

Calvin Lachman, Quakertown

The senior went 5-0 with four pins at the Quakertown Duals, including a win over last year's state finalist in the 285-pound bracket.

Ben Primich, Pennsbury

Primich improved to 22-2 on the season by winning the Suburban One League Patriot Division title at 189 pounds.

Charlie Robson, Conwell-Egan

The two-time PIAA place-winner had a pin at 133 pounds in the Eagles' 48-18 win over Father Judge in the Philadelphia Catholic League semifinals last Wednesday.

Dominick Morrison, Hatboro-Horsham

The freshman went 5-0 with three pins, including two under 30 seconds, at the Quakertown Duals, improving to 34-2 on the season.

Top Performances in Swimming:

Kentaro Bauer, George School

Bauer’s time of 1:05.74 in the 100-meter breaststroke set a pair of records. In addition to breaking the pool record at Westtown, he also set a Friends School League short-course meters record.

Quinn Jerardi, George School

Jerardi broke a long-standing team record in last week’s Friends Schools League meet. She won the girls 100 freestyle with a time of 56.06, breaking the previous record of 56.41 set in 2004.

Emily Hamill, Germantown Academy

The junior won both the 200 IM (2:04.62) and 100 freestyle (49.82) in the Patriots’ win over Episcopal Academy. Her time in the freestyle broke the pool record, previously set in 2008.

Amelia Gipson, Germantown Academy

The freshman won the 200 freestyle with her time of 1:53.35, and also won the 100 backstroke with a time of 58.86 in a win over Episcopal.

Brandon Fleck, Germantown Academy

The junior won two individual events against Episcopal Academy, placing first in the 50 freestyle (20.72) and the 100 freestyle (45.14). He broke the school record in the freestyle, as well as in the the 400 freestyle relay, with a 44.61 time in the leadoff spot.

Landon D'Ariano, Germantown Academy

His time of 1:48.12 in the 200 IM set a GA pool record, and he also won the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:28.69 in a win over Episcopal.
