Charles Woodson, Braxton Miller showcase Ohio State vs. Michigan battle for key recruit

Charles Woodson didn't like seeing a top Michigan 2024 target wearing Ohio State colors.

After his official visit with the Buckeyes June 23-25, four-star Springfield, Ohio cornerback Aaron Scott posted pictures donning Ohio State gear along with pictures of him with cornerback Bryce West and tight end Damarion Witten, who each committed to the Buckeyes on the visit.

"O-H-I-O," Scott tweeted with a heart emoji.

Woodson, who played defensive back for Michigan from 1995-97 and won the 1997 Heisman Trophy, was not a fan, quote-tweeting Scott's Ohio State photos with a photo of the 2024 cornerback in the maize and blue.

"#Goblue," Woodson wrote.

An Ohio State football legend got in on the action.

Former Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller quote-tweeted Scott's photo, commenting "Watup 5" after seeing the recruit don the number he wore during his Buckeyes career.

Former Buckeye defensive back Chimdi Chekwa continued Miller's message.

"If you wear a scarlet (and) gray #5," Chekwa wrote, "greatness is your floor."

Scott has both Ohio State and Michigan in his top five schools, along with Penn State, Tennessee and Oregon.

Scott is ranked as the No. 54 prospect in the 2024 class according to 247Sports' composite rankings. He is the fifth-best cornerback and the No. 2 Ohio prospect in the class behind West.

As a junior at Springfield High School, Scott recorded 21 tackles, three tackles-for-loss, five interceptions — two of which were returned for touchdowns — and one fumble recovery, per 247Sports.

West told The Dispatch Monday that it was "going to be harder" for Ohio State to land Scott, but that the Springfield cornerback "really loves Columbus."

“If we can all get on the same team,” West said of Scott and four-star Arizona cornerback Miles Lockhart, “we’re going to be a great team. Like a great secondary.”

Scott is expected to make his college decision in July.

After West and Witten's commitments, Ohio State moved up to the No. 2 spot on 247Sports' 2024 composite team rankings. Michigan sits at No. 3.
