Stanford's women's basketball 2024 NCAA Tournament fate has been sealed as it was announced as the No. 2 seed in the Portland 4 region on Selection Sunday.

The No. 4 Cardinals (28-5) will face Norfolk State (27-5) who earned a No. 15 seed in the first round of the tournament. This marks their 37th NCAA tournament appearance and 35th under head coach Tara VanDerveer, the all-time winningest coach in college basketball history.

Stanford is fresh off of a PAC-12 championship loss against No. 3 USC on March 10 looking to bounce back on the big stage. Forwards Cameron Brink and Kiki Iriafen have led the Cardinals this season with Iriafen averaging 18.6 points per game and Brink averaging 17.8 points. Brink recently declared for the 2024 WNBA Draft following her stellar senior campaign that ended with her being named the 2024 PAC-12 Player of the Year.

Brink and the Cardinals will take on the Spartans who snagged the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championship with a 51-46 win over Howard. They are led by point guard Diamond Johnson who averages over 20 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.
