Championship International Wrestling to debut ‘Reading Rumble’

READING — On Saturday, a live pro wrestling event will be held at Reading High School.

The Reading Rumble hopes to attract community members from around the county for this Championship International Wrestling (CIW) event, which will feature a series of wrestling matches.

“The Reading Chamber of Commerce approached me about putting this event on at the high school,” said Phil Monahan, a 25-year wrestling veteran and event organizer.

Doors open at 6 p.m., but the first match won’t start until 7 p.m.

Tickets are available for purchase in Hillsdale at Checker Records and in Reading at Reading City Hall, Lone Ranger Cafe, Razorbak Outdoors and online.

General admission tickets cost $13 for adults and $10 for kids, when purchased ahead of time. Tickets will also be available at the door for $15 for both adults and kids.

VIP tickets cost $20, and guarantee front row seats and 5 p.m. entry.

The Reading Chamber of Commerce is excited to bring the event to the community.

“It has been nearly 20 years since we had a pro wrestling event in Reading,” said Ben Wheeler, member of the Reading Chamber of Commerce. “This is a low cost entertainment option for families in the area.”

The main event will be a CIW championship match between “The Siminster Samurai” Malice and “The Amish Giant” Perry Mast.

“The community’s response for our event has been very well received,” Monahan said. “I think a lot of the people are really looking forward to “The Amish Giant” versus the CIW world champion Malice. It’s a spectacle to behold.”

Malice has been the CIW world champion for over two years now.

The event will also feature CIW stars like Big Chuck Wagon, “Big Country” Kaiden Monahan, and many more.

Because “The Amish Giant” is from Hillsdale County, Monahan said he expects a lot of his fans will be there supporting him.

Wheeler said it is a great event for the community.

“As a kid, pro wrestling was something I was really interested in and my dad had taken me to wrestling events. Kids today can experience the same excitement and entertainment as I did,” Wheeler said. “I’m excited to take my kids to a wrestling show and even better is that it’s close to home.”

The Reading Athletic Boosters club, which helps fund sports through Reading Community Schools, will be raising money by selling concessions at the event.
