Which central Ohio boys tennis players won OHSAA district championships?

With a central Ohio-best four Division I state tournament qualifiers already in tow, New Albany’s boys tennis team swept the district singles and doubles championships Saturday at Upper Arlington.

Junior Abhinav Dandu defeated teammate and classmate Jackson Clements 6-3, 6-1 in the singles final, and in doubles, senior Ben Bilenko and sophomore Tyler Thomas held off Olentangy Liberty senior Krish Badri and sophomore Arya Badri 1-6, 6-2, 6-3.

The top four finishers in singles and doubles head to state Thursday and Friday at the College of Wooster. Those berths were clinched earlier in the week, with players returning Saturday for district placement.

Clements defeated Olentangy Orange sophomore Shane Hand 6-4, 6-1 in one singles semifinal. Dandu swept Dublin Coffman junior Nik Shough 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 in the other, and Hand defeated Shough 6-4, 6-3 for third place.

Olentangy senior Sujan Sriram and sophomore Gavin Cheung took third in doubles with a 6-1, 6-3 win over UA junior Jackson Lloyd and sophomore Keshav Goyal.

Bilenko and Thomas edged Cheung and Sriram 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) in a semifinal, and the Badris beat Goyal and Lloyd 6-2, 6-0.

Columbus Academy, Bexley split Division II district titles

Both Division II finals at Academy ended in sweeps.

In singles, Bexley freshman Henry Lessard beat Academy sophomore Nason Lo 6-0, 6-2. Academy won doubles, in which juniors Rowen Lo and Lucas Xue got by Bexley senior Oscar Ramsden and junior Sam Lessard 6-2, 6-4.

The district champion and runner-up qualified for state.
