Celtics rookie Drew Peterson registers first triple-double in G League
Boston Celtics rookie Drew Peterson produced his first triple-double on Monday in the G League to lead the Maine Celtics to a win over the Delaware Blue Coats.
Peterson recorded 18 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists, one steal and one blocked shot in the 122-101 win on the road. He went 7-of-14 from the field, including 2-of-5 from 3-point range, in 38 minutes as Maine improved to 16-11 in the regular season.
The undrafted forward from USC became the 29th player to register a triple-double in the G League this season with the performance. He also notched his fourth double-double.

Peterson, who is signed to a two-way contract, began the year in the G League with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, the affiliate of the Miami Heat. He then signed with the Celtics in December and has spent most the year in the G League.
The 24-year-old is averaging 15.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, 4.6 assists and one steal on 48.5% shooting from the field in 43 games between the Skyforce and Celtics. He produced a career-high 30 points and eight rebounds on Jan. 21 with Maine.
Peterson was a standout player last year with the Trojans and has had a strong run this year. The Celtics believe he has a bright future and want to keep him around to continue his development.
