Celtics list Brown as 'doubtful' for Game 2

While Boston guard Jaylen Brown has proclaimed himself ready for Game 2 against the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday, the Celtics aren't so sure.

The Celtics tweeted on Wednesday that coach Brad Stevens had listed Brown as "doubtful" for the game.

"I'll be back," Brown, who is suffering from a right hamstring injury, told NBC Sports Boston earlier this week. "I'm playing."

Without Brown, who tried to talk his way into playing in Monday's Game 1, the Celtics beat the Sixers 117-101 in the first game of their Eastern Conference semifinal series. Marcus Smart started in his place, and Terry Rozier, Jayson Tatum and Al Horford stepped up to combine for 83 points in the rout.

Brown, who was considered doubtful to play after he was injured on Saturday when the Celtics defeated the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 7 of their Eastern Conference first-round series, was ruled out 40 minutes before the start of the game.

"There was some concern that I could re-aggravate it and it becomes a season-ending injury," Brown said of his hamstring. "I'm basically trying to come back in two days from a two-week type injury."

Brown averaged 20.5 points over the first six games of the Milwaukee series.
