Celtics' Brown enters concussion protocol, out indefinitely
Boston Celtics swingman Jaylen Brown has been placed in the NBA's concussion protocol after his hard fall to the court during the third quarter of the team's win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday.
Brown will be out indefinitely, the Celtics announced Friday.
The 21-year-old was fouled while finishing a dunk over the Timberwolves' Andrew Wiggins with 1:31 remaining in the third quarter, and Brown hit his head and neck on the floor at Target Center.
A stretcher was brought out a short time later after staff from both teams attended to Brown. He walked off the floor himself but was later transported to a local hospital, where he had a CT scan. He then rejoined the team in traveling back to Boston.
Brown later tweeted, "Appreciate everybody I'm ok .. Got a headache tho (emoji of head bandaged) good team win !!"
Brown finished the night with 14 points and five rebounds in 28 minutes as Boston topped Minnesota 117-109 to clinch a playoff berth.
Brown, the third overall pick in 2016 out of Cal, is averaging 14.1 points a game this season while averaging 31 minutes.
The Celtics (46-20) will host the Indiana Pacers on Sunday night.
