Cee-Bees' season comes to an end with regional loss at Cameron

Mar. 5—CAMERON — Clay-Battelle couldn't overcome poor starts to the first and second quarters as the Cee-Bees' season came to an end Tuesday with a 78-51 loss at Cameron in a Region I co-final.

Cameron (20-5) opened a 19-3 lead early in the first quarter as it looked like the Dragons were poised to pull away early. Following a timeout, CB (18-7) closed the quarter strong with a 12-6 run that cut the deficit to 10, 25-15.

Whatever momentum the Cee-Bees had built to end the first frame disappeared to start the second as the Dragons bumped their lead right back up with a 7-0 run that put them ahead 32-15.

That's where Cameron's lead would hover around the rest of the first half and into the third quarter as the Cee-Bees recovered to even play for most of the rest of the game. Even play couldn't make up any ground, however, as Cameron continued to slowly increase its advantage.

The Dragons led 42-24 at halftime and 61-40 heading into the fourth quarter.

Senior Colby Barr led CB with 19 points in what will be his final high school game. Preston Luzader was next with 14 points.

Lance Hartley led Cameron with 26 points, followed by Colson Witcherman's 20 and Mason Scott's 14.
