PNJ Athlete of the Week (Aug. 28-Sept. 2)

Cross Country (Boys): Andrew Beroset, Gulf Breeze - The Dolphins freshman is 2-for-2 in meets this season after placing first in the Patriot Invitational in Pace. Beroset won the race after setting a new school record with a time of 16 minutes, 26.9 seconds, more than 20 seconds ahead of second place Gulf Breeze finished second overall with a team score of 58.

Cross Country (Girls): RaeAnne Tutton, Pensacola Christian Academy - For the third consecutive season, the Warriors senior placed first in the Patriot Invitation. Tutton crossed the finish line with a time of 19:06.6. With five of the top-nine finishers, PCA won the meet with a team score of 21.

Football (Defense): Trenton Henderson, Pensacola Catholic - The sophomore outside linebacker had two sacks and four tackles for loss as part of a seven-tackle performance to help the Crusaders capture a 13-12 win at Escambia.

Football (Offense): John Nicholas, West Florida - The senior quarterback completed 23 of 31 passes for 286 yards and two touchdowns during the Jaguars’ 30-14 home victory over Booker T. Washington.

Football (Special Teams): Miequle Brock Jr., Pine Forest - As part of his four-touchdown performance, the senior running back ripped off an 86-yard kickoff return score to lead the Eagles to a 40-17 home victory against Navarre.

Golf (Boys): Jack Wallace, Tate - The Aggies senior was on the top of the leadership in a pair of events. Wallace shot a 1-under-par 35 to earn a three-shot win at the Cypress Lakes Golf Club. Two days later at the same course, he was four shots ahead of the field after putting up a 36.

Golf (Girls): Gabby Hultstrand, Pensacola - The Tigers junior was the low medalist during a four-team meet at the Stonebrook Golf Club. Hultstrand shot a 1-under-par 35 for a four-shot victory.

Volleyball: Julia Irmen, Navarre - The senior setter averaged 28.5 assists and 9.5 digs while totaling nine aces in eight matches. The Raiders went 7-1 in that stretch, including a runner-up finish at the Labor Day Classic Tournament in Foley, Alabama.
