Inland Lakes' Dylan Zinke voted Daily Tribune's Athlete of the Week for April 22-27
INDIAN RIVER – Inland Lakes track and field athlete Dylan Zinke has been voted the Daily Tribune’s Athlete of the Week for April 22-27.
Zinke won the poll by capturing 33.64 percent of the vote, which beat out Cheboygan track and field athlete Bella Ecker, who picked up 24.24 percent of the vote.
Voting began on Tuesday morning and closed at 11 p.m. on Thursday night. Over 1,400 votes were cast during this week’s poll.
Next week’s Athlete of the Week nominees will be revealed on Tuesday, May 7.
Here were this week’s nominees:
Lucas Sidlauskas, Cheboygan Track and Field – Finished first in the discus at the Inland Lakes Bulldog and Webb Morrison invitationals.
Bella Ecker, Cheboygan Track and Field – Picked up a pair of first places in the high jump and long jump at the Webb Morrison Invitational.
Dylan Zinke, Inland Lakes Track and Field – Finished second in the 200, fourth in the 400, and was a part of the first place 4X200 relay team at the Inland Lakes Bulldog Invitational.
Rian Esper, Mackinaw City Softball – Recorded a combined four hits and six RBIs during a doubleheader against Wolverine.
Jadin Mix, Onaway Track and Field – Broke a 45-year Onaway school record in the 300 hurdles in Bellaire.
Emilee Williams, Wolverine Softball – Went 3-for-5 with a double, two singles and four RBIs in a victory over Mackinaw City.
