Carolina Panthers at New Orleans Saints: Predictions, picks and odds for NFL Week 14 game

The New Orleans Saints (5-7) are on a losing skid, but remain in the NFC South picture and can get back into the division title picture against the lowly Carolina Panthers (1-11).

Fresh off of firing Frank Reich, Carolina struggled to get its second win of the season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With the No. 1 pick in the draft likely going to Chicago by way of Carolina, the Panthers will look to build Bryce Young up against a team he came close to beating in Week 2.

Three losses in a row have the Saints reeling, with the latest coming in a home defeat to the Detroit Lions. Derek Carr also took a beating in the loss, so there are questions as to who will start at quarterback on Sunday. Despite all of that, New Orleans has a favorable schedule for the rest of the season and can turn it around this week.

NFL Week 14 odds, predictions and picks

Steelers vs. Patriots | Falcons vs. Buccaneers | Ravens vs. Rams | Bears vs. Lions | Bengals vs. Colts | Browns vs. Jaguars | Saints vs. Panthers | Jets vs. Texans | Raiders vs. Vikings | 49ers vs. Seahawks | Chiefs vs. Bills | Chargers vs. Broncos | Cowboys vs. Eagles | Dolphins vs. Titans | Giants vs. Packers

Lorenzo Reyes: Saints 17, Panthers 14

New Orleans simply isn’t a reliable play. The Panthers aren’t, either. But with Derek Carr almost certainly sidelined, Jameis Winston is probably good for a couple of interceptions. Carolina’s offense was only slightly better after firing Frank Reich, but I think this is a place where the Panthers can cover; simply: that line is too rich for a Saints team that is 2-9-1 this season against the spread.

Tyler Dragon: Saints 24, Panthers 17

Panthers were more competitive last week after giving Frank Reich a pink slip. Yet, the 1-11 Panthers are playing for pride while the Saints are vying to win the NFC South. Derek Carr was booed at home last week before he left the game due to injury. Jameis Winston is in line to start at QB for the Saints if Carr is unable to play, and that might not be a bad thing for New Orleans.

Safid Deen: Saints 27, Panthers 17

Jameis Winston will likely start in place of Derek Carr and make the most of his opportunity to run the Saints offense. Carolina played well last week in Tampa Bay but doesn’t have enough to keep up in New Orleans.

Victoria Hernandez: Saints 20, Panthers 13

The Saints need a spark after losing three straight and Derek Carr to injury. What better opportunity than the lowly Panthers, who have the 30th-ranked offense and worst record in the league?

Jordan Mendoza: Saints 20, Panthers 13

New Orleans is such a shaky team, but Carolina still has loads to figure out if it wants to make any progress in its rebuild. The first meeting between these teams was close, but Alvin Kamara was suspended for that game. With him back for this meeting, New Orleans gets the home win.
