Cardinals 24, Steelers 10: James Conner, Trey McBride star in 1st road win

The Arizona Cardinals picked up their first road win of the year on Sunday, defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers 24-10.

They scored 24 straight points, never turning the ball over, while the defense forced a turnover on downs at the goalline, had a fumble recovery, and the Steelers missed a field goal.

Running back James Conner had 105 yards and two touchdowns in his return to Pittsburgh.

The game was delayed twice because of weather.

It was the Cardinals’ first road win since Week 10 of last season. They improved to 3-10 while dropping the Steelers to 7-5.

3-and-out to start game

The Cardinals failed to pick up any yards in their first drive. James Conner rushed for no gain, Kyler Murray had a pass batted down on second down and then, under pressure, threw incomplete on third down.

Emari Demercado injured

The Cardinals’ second drive was extended when Elandon Roberts was flagged for unnecessary roughness on a hit on Demercado.

Demercado left the game to be evaluated for a concussion and a neck injury.

Cardinals 3, Steelers 3

4th-down goalline stuff!

The Steelers got in to the red zone and Kenny Picket ran the ball to the one. Getting hurt on the play, Mitch Trubisky entered the game and they decided to go for it on fourth-and-goal from the one. Najee Harris was stuffed for no gain by Kevin Strong.

The Cardinals took over at their own one.

Kenny Pickett, Elandon Roberts injured

Pickett injured his ankle on the rush and was announced as questionable to return.

Roberts, just a few plays later after Pickett’s injury, exited the game with a groin injury. He was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Cardinals 10, Steelers 3 on 99-yard drive

The Cardinals turned the turnover on downs into a 99-yard touchdown drive. Elijah Higgins had a big third-down catch. Michael Carter had a 19-yard run. Trey McBride had what appeared to be a touchdown catch but was ruled incomplete on review.

The very next play, Murray found McBride for a five-yard score.

It was a 15-play, 99-yard drive that took 4:36 and left only 15 seconds left in the half.

Isaac Seumalo ruled out

Seumalo, the Steelers’ left guard, suffered a shoulder injury and was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Cardinals 17, Steelers 3

The Cardinals cashed in on the turnover with a touchdown. Murray had a nine-yard run and, after Joey Porter Jr. was called for pass interference on Greg Dortch in the end zone, James Conner scored a one-yard touchdown to extend the lead to 14 points.

Game delayed for 2nd time

The game was delayed for weather at halftime. After the Cardinals scored in the second half, the game was suspended again.

Steelers miss FG

After another delay, the Steelers missed out on points. George Pickens had a 25-yard catch to put them in field-goal range, but Chris Boswell missed a 45-yard field goal. It was only his second miss of the season.

Rondale Moore TD nullified

Kyler Murray threw a bomb to Rondale Moore that he caught for a touchdown over Patrick Peterson. It would have made it 24-3. However, there was a holding call that nullified the touchdown.

Cardinals 24, Steelers 3

The Cardinals extended the lead with a nine-yard touchdown run by James Conner. They got the ball in Pittsburgh territory after a facemask on the punt return. It took four plays to go 33 yards. Cardinals win!

They improved to 3-10.
