Cardinals IR Mathieu, promote Taylor from practice squad
The Arizona Cardinals placed rookie safety Tyrann Mathieu on injured reserve with a torn anterior cruciate ligament and lateral collateral ligament.
Curtis Taylor was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster.
A magnetic resonance imaging exam Monday confirmed the initial diagnosis from Sunday.
Mathieu got hurt returning a free kick following a safety and was carted off the field.
This ends a promising season for the former LSU standout.
Mathieu has recorded 63 tackles, two interceptions and one forced fumble.
