Roundups: Airline, Benton, Parkway, North DeSoto, Ruston among Friday victors

Airline held off hard-charging Byrd to remain a step behind Captain Shreve in the District 1-5A race by defeating the Jackets 42-28 Friday night at M.D. Ray Field.

Senior Tre Jackson scored three times to lead the Vikings (7-1, 4-1) past the Jackets (2-6, 2-3). Quarterback Ben Taylor completed 30 of 40 passes for 364 yards and four TDs with Bryson Broom catching to TD throws.

Desmond Simmons had a big rushing night for the Jackets with 205 rushing yards.

Benton 62, Haughton 41: The Tigers (4-4, 3-2) needed a lot of points to get past the Buccaneers (3-5, 1-4). Greg Manning had four rushing TDs and another receiving TD from Jeff King, who threw five TD passes. Trey Smith caught two of the TD passes. Will Petro nailed eight extra points for Benton. Christian Turner scored two TDs for Haughton.

Ruston 48, West Ouachita 6: The Bearcats (8-0, 3-0) jumped out to a 27-0 first quarter lead over West Ouachita (5-3, 0-3) and never looked back. Jordan Hayes rushed for 164 yards and two TDs while Josh Brantley also scored twice on the ground and had a TD pass to Joran Parker.

Parkway 27, Natchitoches-Central 26: The Panthers (7-1, 4-1) edged NCHS (2-6, 1-4) at Turpin Stadium. Antonio Gladney scored twice for Parkway and Miami commit Aeron Burrell kicked two crucial field goals. Natchitoches-Central's Cam Davis had two receiving TDs and Zion Thompson scored two rushing TDs.

Evangel 56, Minden 0: The Eagles (5-3, 4-1) pulled the district shutout over the Crimson Tide (1-7, 1-4). The Eagle defense scored three times with Jayden Raphiel and Kennedy Calhoun each contributing a pick-6 while Jacob Wilson scored on a 40-yard fumble return. Peyton Fulghum passed for three TDs, including two to Parker Fulghum.

Woodlawn 46, Bossier 21: The Knights (4-4, 2-3) snapped a three-game slide with a district win over the Bearkats (1-7, 0-5). Woodlawn's Brandon Henderson scored on both sides of the ball getting a pick-6 and two offensive TDs, while Quintin Wilson also added two scores for the Knights.

Sterlington 28, North Webster 0: The Panthers (7-1, 5-0) remained undefeated in District 1-3A with the shutout of North Webster (4-4, 2-3) in Springhill.

Calvary 35, D’Arbonne Woods 0: The Cavaliers (8-0, 3-0) took charge of the District 1-2A race by knocking off the previously undefeated Timberwolves (6-1, 2-1).

Loyola 52, Lakeside 0: The Flyers (3-5, 2-1) shutout Lakeside (3-5, 0-3) at Messmer field. Bryce Carpenter contributed three TDs for the Flyers with a 17-yard run and TD passes to Reagan Coyle and Rowan Guthikonda. Mason Drake added two scores including one on a 73-yard punt return.

Green Oaks 32, North Caddo 18: The Giants (2-6, 1-2) won their first district game since 2020 by topping the Titans (2-6, 1-2). Delarrious Marshall and Stedtravious Brisker scored two TDs apiece for Green Oaks and Tony Johnson added another. Chancellor Washington scored twice for North Caddo.

Red River 26, Winnfield 6: Red River (3-5, 3-0) has been on a roll with a three game win streak, all in district, with a win over Winnfield (2-6, 1-2). The Tigers' Jeremy Mamon was the only score with a 4-yard run.

Haynesville 42, Magnolia Charter 0: The Tors (7-1, 5-0) remained undefeated in District 1-A with a homecoming win over Magnolia (1-7, 1-3). Alonzo Jackson Jr. scored four TDs for the Tornado while Isaiah Washington tossed a pair of TD passes. Byruss Burns and Donnie Critton also scored for Haynesville.

Homer 44, Arcadia 12: The Pels (6-2,4-0) bounced back from last week's with a win over Arcadia (5-3, 1-3). Zyan Warren contributed four Homer TDs passing for three and taking quarterback keeper for another. Raymond Castro scored on a receiving and rushing attempts. The Hornets’ Ian Fitzgerald scored two TDs.

Glenbrook 70, Plain Dealing 20: GHS (7-1, 4-1) won its fourth consecutive game by topping the Lions (0-8, 0-5). Aaron Reddix was credited with all the points for Plain Dealing.

St. Mary's 42, Montgomery 0: The Tigers (7-1, 2-0) bounced back from last week's loss with a shutout of district foe MHS (4-4, 2-1). Mixon Bankston scored three times for the Tigers passing for two and taking a 7-yard quarterback keeper. Ben Bienvenu had two touchdowns for St. Mary's and Nathan Slaughter grabbed a pick-6.

Ouachita Christian 35, Cedar Creek 0: The Eagles (7-1, 2-0) stayed undefeated in district with a win over the Cougars (3-4, 0-1), who had a three-game win streak snapped.

Red River 26, Winnfield 6: The Bulldogs (3-5, 3-0) have been on a roll with a three-game win streak, all in district, with a win over Winnfield (2-6, 1-2). The Tigers' Jeremy Mamon provided the only score for his team with a 4-yard run.

Thursday games

Captain Shreve 42, Southwood 6: The Gators get a big night from quarterback Quortni Beaner to get the win.

Beaner tossed three TD passes and ran for two additional scores to keep the Gators (7-1, 5-0) undefeated in District 1-5A play. Beaner hit Jordan Wiggins from 22 yards out and Keaton Flowers for 13- and 38-yard scores as he passed for 151 yards and ran for 53 more.

Detonion Arkansas scored on a 1-yard run for the Cowboys (0-8, 0-5) who lost for a 19th consecutive time to Shreve.

Northwood 35, BTW 8: Tomarcus Keith scored twice on runs, while Hutson Hearron hit Tucker McCabe and Eli Crawford for TD passes as the Falcons (4-4, 4-1) remained in contention for a District 1-4A title by getting past the Lions (2-6, 0-5).

Many 38, Jonesboro-Hodge 6: LSU commit Tylen Singleton rolled in three TDs, while Jaxon Foster and Jeremiah James added scores, and Deacon Lafolette a field goal as Many (5-2, 3-0) trumped Hodge (2-6, 0-3).
