Lady Vols legend Candace Parker pays tribute to Pat Summitt in name of second son

Former Lady Vols star and three-time WNBA champion Candace Parker announced the birth of her third child Monday, and her second son's name pays tribute to her former coach.

The newborn's name is Hartt Summitt Petrakov Parker — his middle name a nod to legendary Lady Vols coach Pat Summitt.

Hartt is Parker's second child with wife Anna Petrakova, and he was born on May 21, according to Parker's Instagram post. Her first child with Petrakova is son Airr, who was born in February 2022.

"Our starting lineup is complete," Parker wrote on Instagram. "We are so in love and grateful for our little brother. Zone defense is ummm interesting, but we are managing. Goose is ummm adjusting but he's doing better with his role as a vet (Mama is a rockstar and we love her soooo much)."

Parker's oldest child, Lailaa, was born in 2009 as Parker began her WNBA career, when she was married to Shelden Williams.

Parker retired in April after playing 16 seasons in the WNBA. She originally had said that she re-signed with the reigning champion Las Vegas Aces, but then announced her retirement on the first day of training camp.

Parker retires as the only player in league history to win a championship with three teams, part of her long list of historic achievements, including being the only player to win Rookie of the Year and MVP in the same season.

The 6-foot-5 forward played for Summitt from 2004 to 2008 and won NCAA championships in 2007 and 2008, the last time Tennessee made it to the Final Four or won a national title.
