Canal Winchester's Kaseem Wade is OSU Wexner Medical Center high school Athlete of the Week

In a vote that ended Oct. 13, Dispatch.com readers selected the The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center high school Athlete of the Week for competitions that took place from before Oct. 8.

This week's winner is Canal Winchester football player Kaseem Wade.

Wade rushed for 176 yards and three touchdowns on 26 carries in a 35-14 win over Westerville South.

Wade received 32.4% of the vote and was followed by Heath soccer player Emma Roush, who received 22.1%, Granville football player Beckett Long (14.3%), Watterson football player Zack Weber (7.2%), Olentangy Berlin football player Payton Yonce (7.1%), Delaware Christian volleyball player Bekah Williams (6.7%) and Lakewood volleyball player Charlee Palmer (3.6%).

Roush, the runner-up, had three goals and two assists in a 5-1 win over New Lexington.

Long completed 14 of 25 passes for 217 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 28 yards on four carries in a 41-0 win over Zanesville.

Yonce had two sacks, three tackles for loss and 7 total tackles in a 31-17 win over Dublin Jerome.

Weber had 204 total yards and two touchdowns (175 rushing, 29 receiving) and had four tackles and a sack in a 41-7 win over St. Charles.

Williams had 50 kills, 58 digs and five aces on 33/35 serving in wins over Tree of Life, Shekinah Christian and Liberty Christian.

Palmer had 18 kills and 23 digs in a 3-1 loss to Utica and 16 kills, 19 digs and two aces in a win over Miller.

Nominations are due Monday mornings for competitions that took place the previous week.

Anyone can nominate an athlete through Twitter tagging @BrianWhite13 or by email to bwhite1@dispatch.com.

Once athletes win during the regular season, they're not eligible to be back on the ballot until the postseason. Athletes who have not been a recipient of one of the weekly awards can be nominated more than once.
