Caleb Williams to the Bears is a better fit than it was one month ago

Caleb Williams to the Chicago Bears didn’t seem like an ideal marriage in light of the reality that the Bears were keeping Matt Eberflus as head coach. Setting up a quarterback to have two coaches in his first two NFL seasons is not a recipe for success. The Bears needed to change their roster to make themselves more attractive to Caleb.

In the past few weeks, they have done that.

Bears Wire is taking notes:

“That included the additions of wide receiver Keenan Allen, running back D’Andre Swift, safety Kevin Byard, tight end Gerald Everett, center Coleman Shelton, safety Jonathan Owens, wide receiver Dante Pettis, offensive lineman Matt Pryor, quarterback Brett Rypien and linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga.”

USA TODAY’s Nate Davis added this:

“If all you knew was that they’d fetched a conditional sixth-rounder for QB Justin Fields – and he apparently had something to do with that – you’d assume March had been a disastrous month.

“Hardly.”

The Bears got a lot of work done. Caleb Williams has a lot more around him in Chicago. The nature of this situation has improved considerably.
