Caitlin Clark sets DI record in both men’s and women’s basketball

Iowa’s Caitlin Clark is chasing yet another record after recently becoming the player with the most 30-point games in Division I basketball over the last 25 seasons, surpassing Kelsey Plum. Clark has now become the 15th Division I women’s basketball player to reach 3,000 points in her career.

She is also the only player in D1 – men’s or women’s – to total at least 3,000 points, 750 rebounds and 750 assists. Clark set the record on Wednesday night in Iowa’s 67-58 win over Iowa State, where she finished with 35 points, nine rebounds and five assists.

“Caitlin surpassing the 3,000 mark is really special,” Iowa coach Lisa Bluder said. “That is a very hard thing to do, and to do it so early in her senior season is amazing.”

Clark sits at 3,013 points for her career, and she could pass Plum, yet again, as the all-time scoring leader in the NCAA era (1981-1992) this season. Only time will tell what new milestones Clark will set this season.

Iowa’s next matchup is against Wisconsin on the road Dec. 10 at 2:30 p.m. ET and will be on the Big Ten Network.
