Byrd, Parkway dominate 2023 Shreveport Times All-Metro cross country teams
Here’s a look at the 2023 Shreveport Times All-Metro boys and girls cross country teams, selected in consultation with area coaches and based on times.
The All-City team encompasses squads from Caddo and Bossier Parish high schools.
Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year
Gabriel Falting
Parkway, Sr.
Why selected: Falting began the year with his first win at the Border Dash in his final run at the Parkway season kickoff event in South Bossier. He continued improving throughout the season and had a best of 15 minutes, 19.89 seconds over three miles.
Top Boys’ Team
Parkway: Average time − 15:30.64; Total time − 1:17:33.21; 1-5 Split − 19.77
Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year
Jenna Key
Byrd, Sr.
Why selected: Key has been one of the best cross country performers in the state over the past four years despite battling injuries. Her time of 17:26 is the best in the region by a female.
