Buffalo Bills should pursue wide receiver Terrelle Pryor in free agency

With starting wide receiver Robert Woods hitting free agency this offseason, the Buffalo Bills could be in the market for a new starting receiver. Lead by Sammy Watkins, the Bills need some depth and talent to play alongside him in the receiving corps. Should Woods depart, they will need to find someone of his equal talent to replace him.

While one option that exists is for the team to pursue either Corey Davis or Mike Williams with their first round draft pick, another option for the team is to sign someone in free agency. With receivers like DeSean Jackson, Pierre Garcon, and Kenny Britt all hitting the open market, the Bills should have a shot at signing at least one of the top receivers this Spring.

One option that stands out to me in an extremely positive light is for the Bills to pursue former Browns receiver Terrelle Pryor. Playing on an extremely subpar Browns squad last season, Pryor was a bright spot for the Cleveland faithful. Recording 77 receptions for just over 1,000 yards and four touchdowns, Pryor had a coming out party in 2016 that should continue into 2017.

Add into this that Pryor had these stats with the Browns and you have a real winner on your hands. Just imagine what he could do with a solid quarterback like Tyrod Taylor throwing the football. Let us also not forget that having Pryor on the field could open up a whole new bag of trick plays due to his college football days as a quarterback.

While Pryor does look to have an extremely high ceiling due to his talent and youth, he does carry with him some risk. Before last season, Pryor was not even relevant. Initially brought into the league as a quarterback, Pryor was slowly converted into a wide receiver. Though he appears to have broken through, it may have just been a one season jump for him.

Adding in the risk factors, Pryor is someone that the Bills will need to be careful with. However, should they lose Robert Woods this offseason, Terrelle Pryor could be a perfect replacement for the receiver. If he comes at the right price, I see no reason why the Bills should no pursue him during free agency.
