Bucs HC Todd Bowles reacts to Tom Brady’s retirement

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles has issued a statement in response to quarterback Tom Brady’s retirement announcement Wednesday morning.

“I have always had the utmost respect for Tom Brady as a football player, as a winner and as a person,” Bowles said. “It wasn’t until he joined us three years ago that I was able to truly appreciate him as a teammate. Even before I became head coach, we communicated often and had a strong relationship built on mutual respect and a desire to win. That connection only grew over this past season as we fought to get the most out of our football team. I greatly appreciate the leadership he provided and am thankful our time together.”

Brady followed up his legendary 20-year stint in New England with an iconic three-year run in Tampa Bay, the best three-year stretch in franchise history. He took the Bucs to the playoffs every year, including back-to-back NFC South titles, and the team’s second Lombardi Trophy.

Bowles was the Bucs’ defensive coordinator for Brady’s first two seasons in Tampa Bay, and was head coach for his final year in 2022.
