Bryson Tucker commits to IU basketball, gives Mike Woodson another McDonald's All American

Indiana basketball's Class of 2024 is back on the board. And Mike Woodson has reeled in another McDonald's All American.

Bryson Tucker, a five-star small forward out of Bishop O'Connell High School in Arlington, Va. (the same high school Xavier Johnson attended), announced he had committed to Mike Woodson and the Hoosiers. He picked IU over Michigan State and Kansas.

Tucker is the lone commitment in the 2024 class after five-star wing Liam McNeeley, a McDonald's All American, requested his release from his letter of intent. On3 ranks Tucker, originally from Baltimore, as the No. 13 overall player in the 2024 class and No. 4 small forward.

Before announcing his decision, Tucker told ESPN's Paul Biancardi, "Indiana's play style fits me."

IU has 6 open scholarships. Here are 19 interesting transfer portal names.

“His strength right now is his IQ and his understanding of the game,” Tucker's dad, Byron, told On3’s Joe Tipton. “Those are his major strengths, along with his fundamental skillset. I see him being a Cade Cunningham-type kid. When I talked to (Duke coach) Jon Scheyer, I told him it’s like Jayson Tatum and Grant Hill had a child together.”

Here is part of On3's Jamie Snow's scouting report of Tucker:

“Simply put, Bryson Tucker is a basketball player. He has great size to go with a natural basketball IQ. Nothing in his game seems to ever be rushed; he plays at his own pace. He understands change of pace, and he makes good decisions with the ball. He is good on the ball in the half-court, makes solid decisions, and doesn’t put the ball in trouble off the bounce. Tucker has good length, and he is a good athlete. He can make shots with a confident pull-up."

With the addition of Tucker, the Hoosiers now have six open scholarships for the 2024-25 season.
