Broncos CB Pat Surtain pegged to level up next season by NFL.com’s Adam Schein

There are people that put in the work and there are people that post about putting in the work, an obvious tale of not putting in the work.

Pat Surtain, meanwhile, is the former. An obvious tale is that he’s already accomplished so much but isn’t satisfied.

Surtain missed just one game as a rookie. In 16 contests, he totaled 58 tackles, 14 pass breakups and four interceptions — one of them a 70-yard pick-six.

“I think that the next step is to keep on building on that,” Surtan said earlier this offseason.

And the league’s official website is taking note. NFL.com contributing columnist Adam Schein slides Surtain in at No. 2 on his list of nine players guaranteed to level up next season. Broncos Country will take it.

Schein writes, “The No. 9 overall pick was a stud in Year 1, picking off four passes and earning a spot on the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team. But that was only the beginning. I think the world of Surtain. He can be a first team All-Pro sooner than later. There’s a reason QB-needy Denver passed on Justin Fields and Mac Jones in favor of the highly pedigreed cornerback. Now they have Russ at QB1 and a polished technician at CB1.”

Indeed, Surtain proved Broncos GM George Paton right by selecting him over Fields and Jones. Broncos Country hasn’t seen a cornerback like Surtain since Champ Bailey patrolled the sidelines up against opposing teams’ No. 1 receivers. It’s a good time to be a Broncos fan. Check out Schein’s full list while we wait for the season to start.
