Brinley Carlson, Braylon Loots voted the Ames Tribune's Athletes of the Week
Roland-Story golfers Brinley Carlson and Braylon Loots were voted the Ames Tribune female and male Athlete of the Week winners for the week of April 8-14.
Carlson was voted female Athlete of the Week in a tight race with Gilbert girls golfer Eden Lohrbach. Carlson won with 33% of the vote, and Lohrbach finished with 30%.
Carlson helped the Roland-Story girls golf team shoot the best 9-hole team score in school history by recording the best individual 9-hole score the program has ever seen in a dual meet with Ogden on April 12.
Carlson shot a 37 to win medalist by three strokes over her older sister, Makenna. As a team, the Norse finished with a score of 165 to roll past Ogden by 62 strokes for the victory.
Loots was voted male Athlete of the Week with 50% of the vote. Nevada boys golfer Parker Rodgers placed second with 30%.
Loots led the Roland-Story boys golf team to a dual victory over Ogden April 12 at the River Bend Golf Course in Story City.
Loots was the meet medalist after shooting a 36 over nine holes. He won medalist by five strokes over teammate Jack Birkland.
